As a Kirkland maternity photographer, I love to push my horizons and learn new ways of doing things. This session gave me that opportunity to think outside of the box.
This mama wanted an elegant and couture theme for her maternity portraits. She sent me samples of images that she found on Pinterest. At first I wasn’t sure that I was able to deliver. The difficulty was creating a set in the studio to include ceiling-to-floor windows that face the sun. Well, this mama was pregnant during the winter and in the Pacific Northwest, that means rain and clouds. How do I create a big window and the ambiance that the client was looking for with studio lights? I was perplexed with this problem and sat on it for months. While on searching on the internet for ideas, I came across French doors and panels, all for about $100—that’s less than a polypaper backdrop—at this amazing second use store: http://www.seconduse.com/ SecondUse salvages and resells building materials. I styled the French doors with neutral colors and added a chandelier for understated elegance. It was amazing!
