Vancouver BC Newborn Photographer Eden Bao | Desmond 15-days new

Mom and dad wanted Desmond’s newborn session to be focused first on the family and bond between family members and then second on the newborn.  I was happy to obliged. Then when I heard that Desmond has two twin sisters who were of toddler age, I quietly shook in my boots. No other clients can bring a photographer to their knees like a toddler can, let alone two! Before the session started, I put a disclaimer to the parents that the siblings shoot is the most challenging part of the newborn session and that we would be lucky if we get one good shot of the kids together.

While Desmond’s and parent-baby portraits went smoothly, the siblings’ shot was a disaster. The girls’ five-minute attention span were up and the baby was more interested in escaping out of his wrap. The parents quickly gave up, called the grandparents in to pick up the twins and the session continued.

When I was editing their images, I was sad that there were no good sibling shots so I asked them to come back on a different day for a mini session, no more than 20 minutes, just the kids. The mini siblings session went well. The pictures of the kids were, in mom’s words, “magical!”
